How to: Make a puppy collar for a Garmin TT25

At the time of writing, the Garmin TT25 is undoubtedly the gold standard for upland hunters. The TT25 is a huge improvement size wise compared to the older TT15, this newer unit is smaller, lighter and has a battery life that let's you hunt an entire long weekend without recharging. Despite this, the collar still feels big on puppies and smaller pointing dogs. This simple 'hack' lets you size down your TT25 even more, resulting in a better fit for those smaller necks.

Here's what you need:

Garmin TT25

Garmin Zero Length Flex Band

Garmin Compact Antenna

We'll save you a long drawn out hot-to article as the installation is a simple as removing a couple of screws, changing out the flex band and antenna and then replacing the screws. In just a couple of minutes, you've reduced the weight and size of the TT25.

While we haven't noticed a change in performance from the flex bands, but you could notice a reduction in range from the shorter antenna. We've lost signal quicker on the compact antenna than the full-size. Making that compromise is a call you're going to have to make based on your dog's behavior and your comfort level.
